Examples - Key Concepts:
- The Real-time 3D (or interactive walk-through) is not an alternative to “photo-realistic renderings”, but it is an extra instrument at the Architect’s disposal, during the project presentation phase as well as the planning phase where a comfortable, dynamic three-dimensional check is fundamental. It is particularly appreciated by those who believe that movement is necessary in order to have a better understanding of Architecture (for example, Structural Engineers, Storm Water Consultants, Landscape Designers, etc. can see the project more comprehensively).
- Compared with classical animation the user does not passively view a film, but interacts with the scene in real time, choosing routes and means of navigation or activating hyperlinks (to other 3D scenes, texts, images, and video documents etc.).
- The Walk-through is evaluated according to simplicity and convenience during navigation, easy flowing movement, possibility of interaction with the scene, lightness of files.
- Vitruvian Studios allows the use of Head Mounted Display, Megascreen, 3D Screen, Stereo 3D Glasses or CAVE Systems.
- Due to the fact that VRML is the official standard for 3D on the web (as HTML is for 2D) even the scenes created with ArchiCAD can now easily be navigated interactively online (also as multi-user virtual worlds with Avatars). Second Life and Google Earth have opened the road to Web 3D which is now considered to be the future of the network.
